Each panel originally had a caption, a feature which was scrapped in a silly attempt to bring cohesiveness to the page as a whole. They were as follows: panel 1 - Pig fingers! Carrot hands! Cannot draw! panel 2 - Focus off. panel 3 - Perspective is a matter of perspective. panel 4 - What, me worry? In thinking about it, I suppose I might have impanelled these in the orange bar at the right, but it probably would've been a bit much. ... I'm not sure how wide-spread the campaign is, but in Seattle, there are numerous billboards and bus signs which read, "Jesus is ____." I want to play mad libs with these things, or else write in, "a day labourer." Other acceptable answers include, "bearded," and, "featured in a Leonard Cohen song."
I'd like it if you uploaded more Pointless Man comics...they're funny...

ReplyDeleteI like how in the first panel of this comic the boy looks all innocent and there seems to be a friendly smile playing on his face as he asks what he thinks is a completely appropriate and unremarkable question to an ordinary, probably helpful, man (I'd guess he has asked similar questions before with good results)...
Then in the second panel he's frowning (that looks distinctly like the frowny face on a band pin that I have...) as Pointless Man aggressively wheels around and berates him, because he thinks Pointless Man is being totally unreasonable and his hostility seems to coming from nowhere.
Now I feel like I killed a joke...
Not at all. I appreciate the thought you give even two panel gags like the above. Two out of the three other people who've commented on it were deeply unimpressed. One of those called it 'obtuse', or at least more obtuse than my other comics.
ReplyDeleteI have several PM scripts worked out, and even a few pages of dummies. However, much of my free time is not free, and I am often more intent on relaxing than in tempting my hands to go numb trying to draw. Silly, I know. I really want to finish these bits up, and move on to thinking up new material. Soon, I keep saying.
Yeah no rush..your irreverent doodlings entertain me as well...and in the mean time I'll just keep gradually working my way through the backlog of posts here...
